Angelina owns a birth center, located next to her house, where, for years, she and her apprentices have attended an average of 15 to 20 births per month, with excellent outcomes. She is highly respected in her community. She is a long-time member of Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA) Mexico and a founding member of a new state organization created by the traditional midwives of Morelos. An accomplished speaker, she has given talks and workshops at international conferences all over the world. She is a strong source of inspiration for the many traditional midwives in Mexico who are working to preserve and revitalize their profession for the future.
Angelina combines traditional Mexican wisdom with the many courses she has taken in midwifery and related subjects to keep up-to-date with evidence-based obstetrics.
This year we have 3 workshops, the first one its open to everyone, families and birth professionals aswell as people interested in traditional approaches to support women on the motherhood journey, and the next 2 workshops are designed for midwives and doulas so we can navigate deeper into the topics of birth and postpartum.
If you have attended Angelina’s workshops, you know how beautiful and deep they can go and she will always adapt to the needs of the group and will go further than last time..
The event will be hold in Spanish, translated to English.
The event its organized by Brenda Miquiztli (Holistic Doula, Doula Teacher and Apprentice of traditional midwifery) and supported by Suomen Doulat Ry and Rosalia Palazzo Pihlajasaari (Doula and Doula teacher).

1st Workshop: One full day from 12 to 18hrs.
30.05.25 FERTILITY and CONSEPTION open to everybody, families, birth proffesionals, and people interested in the topic.
* Angelina will share traditional ways to work with fertility issues:
* Bodywork
*Massage
* Use of rebozo
*Use of fire
*Moxa and Cupping
*Practicing traditional Mexican rituals for fertility.
2ND Workshop (One full day from 11 hrs to 18 hrs approximately).
31.05.25 Doulas and Midwives practices for pregnancy and birth.
* Angelina will share her experience as community midwife with more than 40 years of experience and more than 15000 births.
* Non-ordinary birth stories. Case study
* What does Angelina use in solving various difficulties in pregnancy and in labor
* Use of rebozo for specific situations
* Herbal medicine
* What is in her midwife’s bag
* What external signs in the behavior of a woman and a newborn allow Angelina to notice some difficulties or complications
* Extended discussions on topics most interesting for the group.
3RD Workshops (One full day from 11 hrs to 18 hrs approximately).
01.06.25: Doulas and Midwives practices for Postpartum Care
* Angelina will tell about Mexican traditions, and her experiences and she will share the Traditional Mexican ritual to seal the birth, “cerrada de rebozo” – “closing the bones”.
* Visceral (abdominal) massage
* Use of rebozo after birth
* Belly binding
* Use of herbs
* Emotional release.
* Extended discussions on topics most interesting for the group

Angelina Martinez Miranda is the renowned traditional midwife living and practicing in Morelos, Mexico. She is the inheritor of three generations of traditional midwifery knowledge; her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother were all traditional midwives, practicing for around 40 years each.
She started attending births when she was 7 years old. At 13 she started attending births on her own. Angelina has 5 sons and many grandchildren. Throughout her life she attended more than 15000 births.
